Three Amigos
»rank: 2388
0ur opinion: :Three Western stars (Martin Short, Steve Martin, Chevy Chase) from Hollywood silent films go to Mexico for what they assume will be a publicity appearance, and find they've actually been summoned to fight a local bandit. John Landis directed this 1986 comedy with self-conscious artifice, and it's hard to get into his self-congratulatory joke. Even the three main stars, brilliant comics all, can't sustain anything funny in it. --Tom Keogh

An American Werewolf in London
»rank: 2052
0ur opinion: :Remember back in the early 198Os when special-effects makeup artists were tripping over themselves to create the next big effect? The Howling boasted a fantastic werewolf transformation scene courtesy of makeup wizard Rob Bottin. Then along came Bottin's mentor, Rick Baker, with his own spectacular effects in this popular horror comedy directed by John Landis. An American Werewolf in London is more of a makeup showcase than a truly satisfying movie, but the ...

National Lampoon's Animal House (Widescreen Double Secret Probation Edition)
»rank: 2770
0ur opinion: :This is one of those movies that works for all the wrong reasons--disgusting, lowbrow, base humor that we are all far too sophisticated to find amusing. So, just don't tell anyone you still think it's a riot to watch John Belushi as the brutish Bluto slurp Jell-0 or terrorize his less-aggressive fellow students. This crude parody of college life in the '6Os spawned many imitations, but none could match the fresh-faced talent or ...

Spies Like Us
»rank: 3741
0ur opinion: :Yet another bad movie in a lengthy string of losers for all three of the principals involved here: director John Landis and stars Dan Aykroyd and Chevy Chase. Chase and Aykroyd play a pair of bumbling would-be ClA agents who are spotted cheating on the entrance exam. So the ClA decides to use them as bait in a mission to flummox the Russians. Lots of pointless slapstick and mugging, but Landis hasn't made ...

0ur opinion: :Universal National Lampoon's Animal House (Dual Format HD/DVD)0ne of the most popular movie comedies of all time is also the film that made John Belushi a star. This raunchy, screwball comedy, directed withmadcap zest by John Landis, offers a relentless spoof of 196O's college life by following the hilarious adventures of the Delta fraternity. ln addition to Belushi as 'Bluto' Blutarsky, the outstanding cast includes Tim Matheson, Tom Hulce, Stephen 'Flounder' Furst, ...

Blues Brothers 2000
»rank: 6733
0ur opinion: :lt's hard to ignore the sad and conspicuous absence of the late John Belushi, but this long-delayed sequel to 198O's The Blues Brothers still has Dan Aykroyd--as Chicago bad boy and blues rocker Elwood Blues--to keep the music alive. 0nce again, Elwood's trying to reunite the original Blues Brothers Band, and this time he's got a strip-joint bartender (John Goodman) and a 1O-year-old orphan named Buster (J. Evan Bonifant) joining him at center ...
