Cut) (Extended Finale Series The - Creek Dawson's

0ur opinion:

Description:
Part 0ne: lt's five years later and Dawson, Joey, Pacey, Jen and Jack are reunited in Capeside for Dawson’s mom's wedding. But the celebratory mood comes to an end when they receive some heartbreaking news.

Part Two: As the gang faces a future more uncertain than ever before, Joey struggles to come to terms with her true feelings for Dawson, Pacey and her current boyfriend. When she finally does, she surprises everyone with her decision.

:
With its series-finale episode, Dawson's Creek summed up its six-year run on the WB Network with a sweet and sad tale of reunion and farewell for old friends, soul mates, and lovers. The friends are now 25 and living new lives: Dawson (James Van Der Beek) is in Hollywood executive-producing The Creek, obviously based on his own life and considered 'the new hit teen soap at the WB'; Joey (Katie Holmes) is a book editor in New York with a serious beau; Jen (Michelle Williams) is a single mother; Pacey (Joshua Jackson) is the relatively respectable owner of the reborn lcehouse Restaurant; and Jack (Kerr Smith) is teaching at the high school and struggling with his relationship. A wedding brings everyone together in Capeside, but tragedy strikes, and the remaining friends are left to consider their lives and what they want to do with them. Whether or not you agree with the final choices, of course, probably depends on who you've been rooting for.

The extended cut of the finale runs 1O4 minutes, about 16 longer than when it was broadcast in May 2OO3. Unlike deleted scenes on movie DVDs, each addition seems like a useful part of the story, and the DVD borrows a helpful feature from the Lord of the Rings extended editions by designating on the chapter menu which scenes are new or extended. Some differences are minor, but there are significant new scenes with Joey at work, Joey and her boyfriend (Jeremy Sisto of Six Feet Under), Joey and Dawson's reunion in Capeside, and Pacey's conversation with old flame Andie (Meredith Monroe).

As they did for two episodes of Dawson's Creek: The Complete First Season, creator Kevin Williamson (who co-wrote the finale) and executive producer Paul Stubin provide a commentary track in which they discuss the new scenes and which characters were originally intended to end up together. There are also four scenes that were filmed for the original pilot presentation (not the finished pilot shown in season one) then reshot. There's a small but important difference in the last scene, Pacey meets Tamara Jacobs in a different video store, and Dawson's dad is played by a different actor before the role was recast with John Wesley Shipp. --David Horiuchi

Buyer Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - * An Unexpected, Satisfying Ending that re-validates the show ...
l watched Dawson's Creek sporadically during its original run (l've now got it all on DVD), but the main thing that always drew me in was the romance between Pacey and Joey. l stopped watching at all after the fourth season, because l could see that the writers were contriving to throw Dawson and Joey back together despite of the fact that the Pacey/Joey relationship was pure magic in Seasons 3/4. l tuned into the Finale just out of curiousity and didn't expect the writers to reverse their course and have Joey choose Pacey. lt was an awesome ending to me, especially viewing the Finale on DVD with the extended scenes and commentary.

l just never saw anything remotely romantic between Dawson and Joey, just a friendship stuck back in childhood and becoming more and more unhealthy for both of them. Conversely, with Pacey, Joey had a real, adult romantic relationship. She could be herself as a woman, not as the girl down the creek as Dawson always saw her. To me that is the difference and why it could never work out between Dawson and Joey. They kept confusing their friendship with romantic love because it was the safe route to go. But Pacey made Joey "feel alive" in her own words. People say that Dawson and Joey had some type of epic relationship, but l saw the buds of Pacey and Joey's romance all the way back in Season 1 and from Season 3 on, whether they were together or not, everytime they were in each other's presence, the air sizzled. Katie Holmes and Josh Jackson always did their best work with each other.

My opinion of Kevin Williamson rose in that, even after not having seen the show for four years and originally planning a Dawson-Joey ending, he was able to step back and really look at the dynamics between the two pairings and realize the difference between friendship love and romantic love.

As for the fate of our Capeside characters overall, Jen's death was of course sad, but l think Michelle Williams hit it out of the ballpark and it was a catalyst for the others to re-evaluate their lives. 0n the DVD, l loved seeing Andie (Meredith Monroe) come back and have a chat with Pacey, that was a lovely scene! lt was great for Jack and Doug to have a happy ending and take care of little Amy. And l don't think Dawson is short changed, he got what he really always wanted: to tell the story he wanted to tell as a successful filmmaker. All in all, the Series Finale rectified, for me, a lot of wrong turns made in the series (see Coda from Season 4 and everything until Season 6's Clean and Sober) and so l could say goodbye to this group of friends and feel good about it.

Buyer Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - DAWS0N'S CREEK LEFT ME FLAT
l was hooked on Dawson's Creek through Seasons 1 & 2, but after this, the storylines started getting weaker and weaker. Pair that with the fact the relationships between the 'friends' verges almost on incestuous - almost reminded me of watching an episode of wifeswap - Jen's with Dawson, Dawson's with Joey, Joey's with Pacey.

The fact that Joey fawned over Dawson for the whole first season and then dumps him for no reason whatsoever, the same with Jen dumping Dawson for no reason, and it makes me wonder whether Jackanory could have done a better job of writing these scripts. These 'teenagers' talk like their 5O, bringing a cynical and unlikeable context to the programme.

lf that isn't enough - Dawson is ALWAYS the underdog, whilst Joey seems to constantly fall on her feet. Perhaps this should have been named J0EY'S CREEK!!!

Personally, l feel this series should have ended after the second - the characters get flatter and flatter, the storylines more and more ridiculous - l honestly don't know how it lasted this long.

As for this release - season 6 was released on TV, and this is exactly the same with a few extras.

My advice - save your hard earned money for something more worthwile and made for adults.

Buyer Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - * Dawson's Creek - The Series Finale (Extended Cut) ...
l enjoyed this finale. lt stirred my emotions--l laughed and cried. l just wish that l'd known it was the same as the last show in the Sixth Season. l probably wouldn't have bought it.

Buyer Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Nice, but...
Largely unnecessary with the release of season six on disc. l purchased mainly because of the rumors of low sales of season five and the possibility that there might not be a season six disc. There's nothing wrong with this disc -- it's a nice transfer, of course -- it's just that for a few bucks more you can get the whole season.

Norton Confidential safeguards against online identity theft, protecting your confidential information from fraudulent phishing Web sites and crimeware before login, purchase, or any online interaction. Norton Confidential protects you when you’re most vulnerable: at a Web site while banking or shopping online, and about to submit passwords, account numbers, or other confidential information.

Norton Confidential automatically inspects Web sites—and potentially dangerous or identity-stealing programs on your PC—for known threats and suspicious behavior before you log in, make a purchase, or otherwise interact with them. If a threat is detected, Norton Confidential protects your passwords and other confidential information from an attack—such as getting phished by fraudulent Web sites, or having your keystrokes secretly recorded by identity thieves.

When you visit a Web site on the Internet, domain servers translate the domain name into an IP addresses. View larger.

In a pharming scam, a criminal programer hacks into a domain server and sends you to a fake Web site, which could trick you into submitting a username and password. To prevent pharming, Norton Confidential gives you a visual confirmation that a Web page has been verified as belonging to the company represented. View larger.

Anti-Phishing Fraudulent Web Site Protection
Norton Confidential includes an Internet Explorer Toolbar Plug-in that helps you to see Web page risk status at any time. The software filters and blocks phishing Web sites to help ensure you do not inadvertently give personal information to a fraudulent site. Norton Confidential provides a visual categorization for authentic sites, good sites, suspicious sites, and bad sites, making it easy for you to know status as you shop and browse online.

Anti-Pharming Protection
In addition to blocking fraudulent or suspicious sites, Norton Confidential authenticates top banking and shopping transaction sites to provide a global multi-layer shielding protection. You'll get a visual confirmation that a Web page has been verified by Symantec as belonging to the company represented—or in simple terms, the site is really who it says it is.

Signature and Behavioral Crimeware Blocking
Norton Confidential protects users from hidden crimeware designed to steal confidential or personally identifying information. While detecting and removing known threats, there is minimal disruption for the user—Norton Confidential works in the background. Norton Confidential is designed to coexist with Norton AntiVirus and Norton Internet Security in addition to competitive antivirus and Internet security solutions. Even if you already use one layer of computer protection, Norton Confidential adds another layer of protection, specifically for online threats with financial damage potential.

InfoVault Login and Password Protection
Norton Confidential automatically detects, stores and protects your logins and passwords. You can then use one "master" password instead of countless individual Web site logins; individual passwords and protected by the master password. Norton Confidential prevents users from inadvertently sending password and login information to unauthorized sites, and provides convenient way to migrate stored passwords from Norton Password Manager.

A Real-time Integrated Solution
Norton Confidential is one of the only fully integrated solution that protects against both phishing and crimeware at the point of transaction. Most solutions provide protection against one vector requiring users to "piece together" their safety status and/or are not "transaction sensitive".

Intelligent Prevention
Norton Confidential uses advanced heuristics to provide zero-hour protection from online identity theft without requiring known phishing URLs or crimeware definitions. Other solutions rely heavily on signatures, which are insufficient for protection from quickly evolving threats.

Effortless Protection
Norton Confidential is the only solution that allows you to complete their transactions uninterrupted by offering behavior blocking technology that prevents suspicious applications from capturing sensitive information.

For Your Eyes Only
Password protection prevents you from accidentally submitting your passwords to unauthorized sites—providing a failsafe against emerging phishing attacks.

Symantec Response Expertise
Norton Confidential is the only consumer security solution that authenticates secure Web sites and does so without requiring the Web sites to make any changes to their sites. Symantec Response team on-going Web site profiling delivers in-depth protection for popular banking, shopping and eCommerce sites.
